STC Rebates (Federal Government)
STC – Small Scale Technology Certificate
STCs are a type of currency that you can earn by installing renewable energy systems (such as solar panels, solar water heaters and heat pumps) that meet certain criteria.
The SRES (Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme) is a program run by the Federal Government that allows you to claim a specific number of STCs when you install an eligible system.
The Federal Government offers a rebate (STC – Small scale technology certificates) to all customers, this is not subject to customers meeting any criteria. It will be automatically taken off your total system cost leaving you with a lower upfront cost. Whether you install solar or a hot water system you will receive the STC rebate.
We like to ensure that, as our customer this is as easy and smooth process for you, therefore, will complete all paperwork, apply for any applicable approvals with your energy distributer such as; United Energy or Ausnet and advise your energy retailer that solar is installed on your property.
VEECs Rebate
Only available on electric or gas hot water system replacements.
VEEC – Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate
Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) are digital certificates generated under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program. These certificates are produced when specific energy-efficient activities are carried out in residential or non-residential premises. Each VEEC represents a reduction of one tonne of greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂-e). Energy retailers purchase these certificates to fulfil their annual obligations under the program. The VEECs play a crucial role in helping the Victorian government achieve its target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from households.
Hot Water Changeovers
Hot water systems are one of the biggest energy uses in the home. To keep the costs under control an option is to install an efficient heat pump system. Install a heat pump system and Solar Victoria is offering a rebate of up to $1,000 to you. This may save eligible customers up to $400 on your energy bills when they install an eligible system.
Eligible hot water systems and installations are also eligible for additional rebates (VEEC’s) aswell as the STC’s (Federal Government).
This option may be suitable for those home where solar is not an option or, if you have solar installed already and wish to have an impact on the environment, by producing fewer carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment and helping combat climate change.
